I have a confession to make. I am obsessed with the smells and tastes of fall. I didn’t realize how bad my problem had gotten until this June I started having a pregnancy craving for the entire season of fall. You guys… do you know what happens when your little tiny growing baby insists you need fall flavors ASAP in the middle of the summer? First you go to the grocery store and cry when you realize they have no cider, cry some more when there is no pumpkin spice creamer, and then full out sob when you cant find the pumpkin pie. Then you pull yourself together go home and frantically dig through your pantry until you find the powdered apple cider mix that you almost through away last fall because its gross. And YOU DRINK THAT powdered cider beverage like it will save your life. Seriously guys, I have a problem. I wish I would have had this weeks project this summer because I have a feeling it would have saved me the teary trip to the grocery store.
This week I bring to you a simple sugar scrub that you can make in just 5 minutes – NOT EVEN KIDDING! It is so easy. I found it on happinessishomemade.net this past week and let me tell you, it is divine. For an 8-oz container of sugar scrub, simply mix together 1 cup of granulated sugar, 1/4 cup of coconut oil, 2 tsp. of pumpkin pie spice, and 2 tsp. of vanilla extract. See, super easy! I know I couldn’t have eaten this during my time of fall need this summer, but the smell is so wonderful when this scrub heats up in the shower that I think I could have absorbed the season through my skin.
If you are a little hesitant to try pumpkin spice anything in the shower – this is a great “taste test” to see if you can handle it. I dare you to try it. The best part about this scrub is that you can very easily make it all year and never run out. There is no “out of season” for this delicious scrub. (Because that is seriously the worst.) When I was in Jr. High, I found this delicious pumpkin spice shampoo and conditioner that I adored. I smelled like a big piece of pumpkin pie all fall and then… fall was over and the store stopped carrying it. They told me to wait until next fall – but when the next year came, the scent had been discontinued. It was pretty sad and I have been searching for the perfect pumpkin-y bathroom goodies ever since. I must say, this sugar scrub will fill this void quite nicely (and of course, there is always room for some more seasonal goodness). Speaking of which, if you would like to try to DIY a few more seasonal goodies be sure to stop by my website on MONDAY. I’ll link you to lots of delicious DIYs that I have curated from other blogs.
