You guys, summer is flying by! I feel like I haven’t even gotten to enjoy the season yet – with all the rain we’ve been getting I am so ready for some warm summer days sitting by the pool (or my pond) drinking some nice ice cold summery beverages. Mine will be the boring non-alcoholic kind since I’m expecting (SURPRISE!!! I’m having a baby!) But you are probably going to want the stronger kind so for this weeks article, I have a few patriotic drinks to get your summer really going. Disclaimer: I haven’t actually tasted most of these since I have a kiddo growing but I have been told that they are DELICIOUS!
Toby Keiths All American Jar
2.25 oz Wild Shot Silver Mezcal
1 oz Coconut Rum
.25 oz Triple Sec
.25 oz Pineapple Juice
1 cup Piña Colada Mix
1 cup Strawberry Daiquiri Mix
1.25 cups Crushed Ice
In a blender with ice add Wild Shot Silver, Malibu Rum, Triple Sec, pineapple juice and piña colada mix. Blend until thick. Pour half of blender in separate glass, then add Strawberry Daiquiri Mix to blender. Blend until mixed and pour blended strawberry mix into mason jar. Add the separate glass of blended product to the mason jar.
White Wine Sangria
1 bottle white wine (not too dry)
1 pint strawberries, cut into quarters
1 pint blueberries
1 pint raspberries
1 red apple, sliced
1 bottle sparkling water (Voss, Pellegrino)
In a large pitcher, combine wine and fruit. Stir gently and let chill at least overnight. Serve with a splash of sparkling water.
July 4th Layered Drinks Recipe (Non Alcoholic)
1 Cup Red CranApple juice
1 Cup White Sobe Pina Colada flavored drink
1 Cup Blue G2 Gatorade
Fill your glass 1/3 of the way full with CranApple juice.
Fill to the top with ice.
Slowly pour the remaining drinks directly on top of a piece of ice.
NOTES: You MUST pour SLOWLY, DIRECTLY over ice 🙂 Also, you could make this alcoholic by using real Pina Colada.
Blue Vodka Lemonade
8 oz lemonade
3 oz blue liquor (UV Blue Vodka, Blue Curacao)
Blue food coloring, optional
Mix together lemonade and blue liquor. Add a drop or 2 of blue food coloring for a deeper blue color.
Serve over ice. Garnish with lemon if desired
Another great tip for all of these drinks is to use frozen fruit instead of ice cubes. Stick with berries to keep your drinks patriotic and not watered down. You could also freeze berries into ice cubes with light colored soda or juice to add a little something extra.
Until next time,
