The past two weeks have been CRAY CRAY CRAZY in the Brown House. We will be PAINTING by the end of THIS WEEK! Woah. I know. So fast. The dry wall guys were SUPER quick getting it all hung and mudded. And today they textured the walls. Tomorrow they are coming back to texture the walls and clean everything up. They even have patched and finished the basement walls where the egress windows were cut and installed. And let me tell you…. cutting egress windows into a pre-existing house/basement is a tough job! It involves a cement chainsaw and LOTS of water. Makes quite a mess… I am praying that we can get our carpets cleaned and we won’t have to replace the basement carpet.
Anyways though – the house is ahead of schedule! If all goes as planned – we should be moved in by the end of October! That would give me a month to get the house ready before Baby Brown makes its arrival. (Seriously people, say some prayers for us.)
The schedule for the next few weeks:
This week: Finish Drywall and get everything prepped for painting.
Next Week: PAINT PAINT PAINT ( I am taking volunteers since I am not supposed to be painting… ya know – fumes + preggo ladies = big no no)
Then: Old floors get torn out. Hard floors get installed October 14th. Trim gets installed after that with carpeting to follow shortly after. The custom cabinets, toilet, sink and doors all get installed sometime between hard floors and carpeting… Also, we finally picked out the siding! WOOT WOOT! I don’t know when that will get here or be installed but I’m sure it will be in the next 3-4 weeks.
And if that weren’t enough going on for the next month – I also am working like a crazy lady to try to get a lot of beautiful Christmas Crafts ready for a BIG craft fair on October 25th. Keep in mind – my craft room is in shambles due to construction so all of the crafting is happening in my living room. I am soooo ready for this house to be back in order.
I have a fun story about this place in my house. Right after I wrote the last update 2 weeks ago, I was feeling incredibly overwhelmed. Like I was drowning in the mess I call home and there was literally nothing I could do about it. With tears in my eyes I walked out to the addition, (feeling incredibly bad for myself) and just stared at the mess. I had all of these images in my head of it never being finished and me bringing a baby home to a messy house full of dust and filth. And then I looked up and saw a portion of Psalm 40 written on the door frame of the messiest room (the spray foam insulation guys had left a ginormous mess). I had never seen this in my house before. I even checked my pictures to see if I had just missed it before. I’m still not sure how it ended up there but I do know that it was perfect for that moment. It calmed my heart and mind. It allowed me to give the problems to God and just let go. So thank you – mystery verse writer. You have made this process so much easier for me.
I waited patiently for the Lord
he inclined to me and heard my cry.
He drew me up from the pit of destruction,
out of the miry bog,
and set my feet upon a rock,
making my steps secure.
He put a new song in my mouth,
a song of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear,
and put their trust in the Lord
Until Next Time,
And just to add some light to your life… here are a few fun pictures from the past 2 weeks.
